Five Animal Sports Qigong and Dr. Yang Junming and Kathy K Yang

The knowledge that Dr. Yang-Ming has never stopped surprised me. He is a truly talented martial artist, a therapist, and most importantly a teacher. His books and DVDs are very educational and instructive. In this special DVD, "Five Animal Qigong" was completed by Kathy K. Yang, who explored and taught an ancient and popular medical Qigong practice.

The first half of the DVD was in the form of a lecture, Dr. Yang provided some history of Qigong exercises, and Kathy Yang provided some explanations for the communication table with the five organs contained in the DVD. [You can also find these under the "Quick Reference" on the DVD.] Yang's daughter, Casey, her father doesn't seem to be comfortable, but it is to be expected, she did not teach like him. I still find these two parts very interesting and informative.

Before conducting demonstrations of different Qigong movements, Dr. Yang then showed some warm-ups with a group of students. Dr. Yang first demonstrated and explained the actions, and then the DVD showed that a small group of his students used Dr. Yang's audio guide to perform the action. In this way he experienced all five animals: tigers, deer, bears, monkeys [猿] and birds. The entire plan is less than three hours. However, in the menu, you can select "Play Continuous Forms" and watch the students walk through the form through Dr. Yang's narrative. This takes about 50 minutes.

Please note that for some people, some of these actions can be quite difficult, so be prepared to take the time to practice proficient in these forms and feel the art that Dr. Yang said as he approached the end. I also liked a comment made by Kathy Yang, which is to make the table interesting and enjoy the action like an animal. Sometimes I feel that we have forgotten the fun of training.

There are many different Qigong exercises and forms. This special DVD focuses on five forms of animal qigong and is a good teaching tool for this series of exercises. This is not a simple form, so people will have to spend time mastering what they teach, but doing so is good for health and fitness. The program is another excellent resource for Dr. Yang and YMAA. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about Qigong and practice an interesting Qigong exercise.
