5 must follow the rules of digitization of small text in embroidery

If you have an embroidery business and are primarily for corporate customers, most of your orders may include an embroidery logo. The logo always has some accompanying letters. One of the biggest challenges in embroidering digitization is creating digital images for small text lettering. You need to be extra careful to ensure that the text is easy to read and correctly represents the customer's logo.

When editing small text in digital embroidery, please follow the following five rules.

Letter size

Obviously, the dimensions should be large enough to be legible, and the size you choose depends on their letter type - uppercase or small. The general rule of thumb is that uppercase letters should be at least 4mm high. If your text is a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, like a regular sentence, each letter should be at least 5mm high. Also make sure that the letters are at least 0.8-1 mm wide so that they can be read comfortably even from a distance.

2. Closed-loop letters

Letters of closed-loop letters like o, b, p, and q are difficult to embroider. If high-density stitches are assigned to these letters without leaving enough space, the stitches will completely cover the letters without leaving a blank area in the loop. For closed loop letters, there must be a radius of 0.45 mm in the annular space within the letters.

3. Pay attention to the closely placed letters

To create embroidery based on clean text, you need to leave enough space between the 2 letters of each word. [I am not talking about spaces between words]. It has been observed that a gap of 0.5-1 mm is left between two consecutive letters. Any gaps smaller than this will create an untidy or confusing visual impact, as the letters will fuse with each other.

4. Assign stitch density according to Fabric

The skilled embroidery digitizer understands that the final structure of the stitching design plays a role in the way the text appears. Therefore, depending on the fabric used, the density of the stitches must be assigned accordingly. The high density stitching on the lightweight fabric will cause the text to protrude roughly around the edge.

5. It is recommended to make changes to customers as needed.

Ultimately, the design determines the parameters of the digitization, and you may have to suggest some changes to the customer to get the best results. For example, if the text is small and is a script font, digitization will be difficult and may result in loss of detail in the final embroidery. In this case, it is recommended to replace the larger size and change the text to your client's location.
