When sadness reduces the weight of your shoulders, there is one thing that can be moved both inside and outside. This is exercise. Exercise is exercise, it pushes us somewhere, it has flow, it has life.
If you direct this movement to a purposeful activity, the benefits will multiply. Especially in times of extreme stress, such as when we are sad, this movement has the ability to release the tight knots stuck in our grooves and to make the damage captured in our hearts a way of escaping.
There are many types of exercise that benefit our health and well-being. We can walk, run, ride a bike, swim, surf, take yoga classes or play Tai Chi in the park. The choice is endless. Then there is dancing.
The ability to dance is freedom of movement. It can be gentle and wild. Whether we are alone in our lounge or dance with others. Whether we express ourselves through free movement or we dance to set the steps, we will motivate ourselves internally. We are entering the rhythm of music, letting ourselves forget the pain of losing someone's loved one. We are escaping and investing in the power of dance to heal our weary mind and painful body. We ship ourselves to the place where music and sports are combined. This place is the magic we created ourselves.
I have tried many different forms of dance, but there is still one that I have returned again and again. Wu Tao is a harmonious dance that enriches my own physical, emotional and spiritual aspects. It touches every one, giving me the opportunity to bring energy and inflow, not just my body, but my life. Through the dance of air, water, wood and flame, I released my sorrow and jumped my joy. I let go of the past and walked towards my future. I ignited the flame of promise and possibility. In the earth dance, I finally found myself at home and brought peace. I have shown balance and peace.
Wu Tao is described as:
"Dance-based therapy that balances and coordinates airflow [the vital energy of the body]. It has its foundation in Eastern medicine, similar to Tai Chi and Qigong. It is a therapeutic system with holistic philosophy and practice in each Level restores human balance." © Wu Tao: The Road to Dance.
I feel very fortunate that Wu Tao is very easy to buy in my Western Australia because it really enhances my life in many ways. Developed in 2001 by Western Australian dancer and therapist Michelle Locke, Wu Tao's appeal is growing globally. When I share your current level of excitement, it has a very real chance. Many people realize that the benefits and fun of dance are developing in many parts of the world, including the upcoming US tour in November. All details can be found on Wu Tao: The Road to Dance.
No matter what form of dance you decide, let your flow begin and take you into a place where music and sports merge.
"The journey between you and who you are now is the place where the dance of life really takes place." ~Barbara De Angelis
