The Art and Elegance of Mathematics: Problem Solving and Application Game Theory

I have never been very skilled in mathematics, but I work as a teacher and writer for personal development and life guidance in game theory every day. How could this be? Most people think that mathematics is essential in creating a game-based strategy. Most of us think that mathematics is a dry logic system that commands the world, but it is not accurate. This may be the basic mathematics used to understand the mechanically rigid universe. The completion of mathematics at the highest level is a profound art and creative process. It transcends the pure precision of numbers, arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.

The gap between theory and practice is often large [potential energy and kinetic energy]. When we are taught, mathematics in school is taught to do mathematics by those who already know the answer to the question. But there is another type of mathematics. This is a mathematical process of the process in which the problem is not even answered, and the person asking the question may need to ask a different question.

Andrew Wiles described this way of thinking on the PBS show Nova. Wiles is a well-respected mathematician who solved the concept of Fermat's theorem, which was first speculated by Pierre de Ferma in 1637, until Wells found a solution. The concept has not been resolved.

He talked about the way he walked in a dark room and felt his way. He knows what he is doing and can feel his way, but he is still blind. Then one day someone turned on the light. This is the difference between mathematics and knowledge mathematics.

Many of us claim to have poor mathematics at school or "know nothing about mathematics". Say this is a misunderstanding of what mathematics is. When you drive, sing, wash dishes, make beds, or coordinate the clothes you are practicing math. This is a mathematics, similar to the feeling that Wiles describes around the furniture in a dark room. It's one thing to feel a certain way in the dark, and you can see the furniture open under the light.

Having a higher degree in mathematics does not mean that a person "opens up the light." People can have very complex mathematical knowledge. These people know formulas, equations and algorithms, but they don't really understand what they know.

When the light switch is turned on, a person has an epiphany, a Zen realization, an "ah" moment. Familiar with the knowledge of "yes". Taoism calls it "one."

For many mathematicians, there is usually a separation between mathematics, art, and spirit, but these three are not separate entities.

If one wants to talk about mathematics in a way that goes beyond pure logic, scientific methods, formula writing, and complex algorithm research, then it must turn to mathematical perspectives, including creativity and substantial "tacit knowledge." This way of viewing mathematics is not a solution, but a painter who uses oil painting on canvas. Checking and participating in mathematics is about creating and understanding how new creations are produced.
