"Don't tell Dad" is a cute movie about an 8-year-old boy Cho-woo [played by Seung-ho Yu] living with his single father. His father's salary as a MC in a nightclub is very low. His boss hired him because he was cheap.
Cho-woo life is quite difficult. He had never seen a mother whom he thought was dead because she ran to the United States shortly after birth. Her parents are very rich because they are ashamed of not getting married when they are pregnant. Cho-woo must be in the club with his father. Cho-woo and the boss's son often fight, causing more problems between the father and the boss.
Occasionally Cho-woo's mother will reappear in Korea. She met her former lover and their son, but the two did not know each other. When she figured out who she was and the little boy she fell in love with was her son, she decided to want to be part of his life now. Cho-woo's father knew that he was not perfect, but eight years later, he felt that he had no right to insert and tell him how to raise his son. The boy, who did not know that the woman was his mother, was obsessed with her and tried to get his father to marry her. This leads to more problems between father and son.
The main problem with this film is that it is unsuccessful to try to mix humor and drama. If humor is actually interesting, it might be another matter. All the jokes are nothing more than a mixture of vulgarity and jealousy. Nothing is done except the real story. It is a story of a motherless boy looking for an answer.
However, on the other side of the coin, we found that the young Seung-ho Yu performed very beautifully because the biggest happy confused and innocent little boy in life was pleasing his father. Every scene of his, whether it is laughing, crying, or just thinking about the life around him, is unforgettable and warm. The film is worth a look, but the film might be better without the unnecessary filth and smudges that the audience had to pass to get the content of the story.
