Russian and Chinese dwarf hamsters have been fighting for years. Ok, not true, but all sorts of battles have taken place. For a long time, pet owners have been fighting the decision between having a Russian dwarf hamster or a Chinese dwarf hamster. I love so much myself, I can never choose one. The most obvious difference between the two hamsters is the appearance. Of course they are very cute and small, but they also look very different. Chinese dwarf hamsters look more like mice than other hamsters. He actually has a small tail [about one inch long]. He is slimmer than the Russian dwarf hamster, which sometimes looks more like a little hamster. One of my favorite Russian and Chinese hamsters is their fur pattern. They all have very gorgeous colors and patterns, but they are very different from each other. On the other hand, Russian dwarf hamsters have a large number of colors and patterns. This is because they have been nurtured into beautiful pets for many generations. They range in color from white to light brown to dark grey, and come in many different patterns, including the main stripes on the back, similar to Chinese hamsters.
Russian dwarf hamsters not only look different from Chinese dwarf hamsters, but their behavior is also very different. One major difference between the two is that Russian dwarf hamsters are more social, while Chinese hamsters are sometimes antisocial and have difficulty with roommates [especially women]. However, although they may not be so social, Chinese hamsters have fewer problems because you don't have to worry that they will kill you. This is what Russian dwarf hamsters often do more.
As you can see, Chinese dwarf hamsters and Russian dwarf hamsters are very similar and very different during the same period. They are all good pets, I suggest you give them two opportunities [although Chinese hamsters are hard to find, so you may make a decision for you].
