India mourns in the village

When do we say that India lives in a village, when are we interested? If we mean, our ancient heritage, strict caste system, slow and frantic life from crazy crowds, yes. If it is superstition, ignorance, illiteracy, poverty, too; India lives in the countryside, if it is technological innovation, industrial growth and comfortable life, no, India does not live in the village. Let any doctor go to the rural atmosphere to start practicing. Even if you give him attractive rewards and generous compensation, he will refuse. Tell the teacher to work in a rural school. He will tell you a hundred excuses, all of which are realistic and reasonable, even if the student on vacation feels like a square nail in a round hole. He is eager to go out with the least chance, real and reasonable.

Even a vacation student will feel like a square nail in a round hole. He is eager to leave with the least chance he can think of. However, we are shouting loudly, paying attention to the tranquil atmosphere, beautiful scenery and peaceful life, free from the influence of modern, material civilization and rural conditions. We are proud of the villagers' hospitality, love and kindness, simplicity and sincerity. We thank him for the god of nature, whose quality lasted for centuries and preserved our glorious cultural heritage. We know that he lives on the brink of half hunger, but works tirelessly to meet the hunger of others. If all this is not just a verbal service, why have we not done anything to improve his destiny and dry his tears?

No matter where he is, in the city or in the country, the basic needs of human beings are the same. Hunger and thirst, fear and hope, pain and happiness are universal, and even animals have this kind of emotion.

The first requirement after food is that on your body, there is a roof on top of your head that protects against the sun and rain. We don't know how poor people without land, unemployed craftsmen, potters, shoemakers and weavers live in their thatched mud houses, which collapse every year when the rainy season comes or floods. His living conditions in the city's counterparts are not good, but at least in the days of constant rain, he has some safe places to hide, school or university buildings. If he is lucky, he can get the distribution from the slum clearance board. But there are no housing committees or slum development plans to help poor villagers erect a strong roof on his head.

With the Bhoodan movement of Acharya Vinoba Bhave, the Sramadan and Sakitan movements appeared. But like the mother, the offspring are also in recovery. No metal or asphalt, no street lighting, no protected water supply, no drainage. Every village has a Panchayat office, president, vice president and members; but no one can think of the needs of the village.

Each village needs an elementary school, a health centre and an advisory group, where villagers can obtain information related to agricultural work, or off-season voluntary facilities. A family planning center, a community hall, a library with the necessary books, a reading room and an entertainment center with radio and television, which is the minimum facility that every village should have.

Indeed, this is the blockade development plan that the government is working hard to implement. Due to the red tape, poor farmers who lack property can not get much benefit. In the cooperative credit society, it is not a foolish tenant, but a wealthy landlord who will enjoy credit facilities. If he doesn't know why he is doing this, he will put an impression on his thumb. His poverty and ignorance are his responsibility, and poverty makes him overly grateful to others, and ignorance keeps him in the dark forever.

Poverty and ignorance are twin diseases and villagers are suffering. The root cause of both is illiteracy, so education is his primary need. But he will never go out to seek education. Education should go to his door and ask for his participation.

He needs a steady and continuous job to support him and his family to spend the year. Agriculture is a seasonal occupation due to the lack of proper irrigation facilities. In times of poverty, small farmers and landless workers need a certain profession to maintain their mind and body. Whenever we think of unemployment, we immediately think of people who have received urban education. Highly qualified graduates and graduate students, doctors and engineers. We also consider skilled labor, factory workers and slums in highly industrialized towns. But we rarely think of these unskilled unemployed people, they are looking forward to the opportunity to get rid of despair. One organization of Toddy Growers' cooperatives will certainly think of some village-oriented family crafts to make these hungry poor fully occupied. A popular elected government when a benevolent foreign government wants to link Vijayawada and Madras with a long canal just to avoid hunger from plundering his millions of provinces from the famine Definitely should consider reorganizing those crying villains for drinking water, roads and minimum sanitation.

Destructive floods are prone to occur in some areas, with mathematical precision visiting year after year, and cleaning villages by village. Millions of conventional crops were destroyed, thousands of cattle were killed and hundreds of tanks were destroyed. So far, nothing has been done to prevent this huge loss of life and wealth. The Danes built dykes; the Chinese had their huge walls. However, in order to alleviate their suffering, we did not take permanent measures. Instead, we provided food and medicine to the troubled patients and announced thousands of rupees to the families of the deceased. This is a drama that is developed year after year. We sat in the gallery to watch the scene.

There are many international organizations that are ready to provide in-kind and coin assistance just to make a request, as long as we try to avoid this natural disaster. There is an urgent need to build permanent buildings to accommodate the affected floods in every village that may be affected by disasters.

In this opposite world, beauty and ugliness, pain and happiness, and rich poverty coexist. This does not mean that we must accept it as a way of life and remain complacent. Our efforts must be to eliminate ugliness, pain and poverty and make life a livable place. A country at the threshold of the industrial revolution is obliged to narrow the gap between the two lifestyles, between the old, the original and the luxurious modern style. Until we fulfill, India will certainly mourn in the village.
