Wisdom path
The Wisdom Trail in the southeast of Ngong Ping is a monument given to the people of Hong Kong by Professor Zheng Zongyi.
The monument consists of 38 columns of wood engraved with the words "Heart Sutra". These wooden columns are 8 to 10 meters high and are arranged in a figure of eight. Professor Jan Tsung-i discovered Buddhist stone carvings during his trip to China on the Mount Taisham in Shandong. Inspired by the engraving, he began to create the "heart" calligraphy works, because this verse is a Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist considered to be a treasure.
The heart is a prayer used by Buddhists. It is a multitude but is considered to be the main one. The scripture has a complete title, Prajna-Paramita, which is a Sanskrit term, the word Prajna describes wisdom, and Paramita describes perfection. We have the heart [Buddha], wisdom and perfection. The title is followed by "the perfection of Buddha's wisdom." This is the prayer of the scriptures, and each column has a choice of prayer.
Heart Sutra is the best-written Mahayana Buddhist scripture, but the shortest is only 260 words. Because of the compound theory, people find it very difficult in the heart, and its statement is so difficult. Reading and meditation, if persisted, will guide you in time to find the secrets of the universe, where it is necessary to find it to truly understand.
The columns are listed in the form of 8, why not a square or any other location. Eight of them mean "infinity." They also set off in a way that insisted on the landscape. The word Sunyatta has the meaning of emptiness, so the column means emptiness.
It is only a 15-minute walk from Ngong Ping along the wooded trails. It is easy to walk and it may be more difficult to understand.
My next article will be at the Po Lin Monastery
