If a person understands the system and follows several basic principles, then helicopters using loop trimming are very simple to fly. One of the most basic forms of the cycle adjustment system is a simple two electric motor that is activated by a switch located on the handle of the circulating pitch bar. This type of switch is often referred to as a "Chinese hat" and is intended to be manipulated by the pilot's thumb. Chinese hats can only move forward, backward, left and right. In other words, no diagonal movement is possible. The switch is self-centering. A very important aspect to remember is never to activate the switch while the cyclic friction control is still on.
When the cycle adjustment switch is operated, either of the two motors will start. One motor positions the cycle control in the front and rear position [pitch plane] and the other motor positions the cycle control on the left and right sides of the rolling plane.
For the sake of clarity, for our unfortunate friends flying a fixed-wing aircraft, it must be noted that the blade itself does not trim, unlike the fixed wing, which is trimmed by tabs on the control surface. Therefore, the circulation adjustment system in the helicopter only needs to position the cycle control at the desired position, thereby reducing the force on the joystick, but this does not mean that the helicopter can fly because it requires a more advanced automatic driving system. . Decoration system.
The basic principle of flying with a decorative system is to make changes, then check, adjust and trim. For example, if the speed of the helicopter needs to be increased from 60 knots to 80 knots, then the first action would be to change the pose by using the loop control alone by selecting an external new pose. At some point in the attitude that the pilot believes that the new speed has been reached, this change in attitude must be examined. At the end of the airspeed indicator, the attitude can now be fine-tuned to improve the actual speed at which flight is required. Only now, by manipulating the Chinese hat, the adjustment system can work until there is no feeling of force in the loop control. In other words, the trimming system should not be used to make initial pose changes.
Most small helicopters with this form of basic decorative system can fly without the use of decoration, but obviously there will be a lot of force in the loop control depending on the flight phase. The decorating system can be the pilot's biggest friend, but if used improperly, it may be the biggest enemy, because for example, a person can completely exceed the desired posture.
As mentioned earlier, the previous is a basic decoration system because there are more advanced systems for more complex helicopters, including, for example, stability enhancement systems, helicopters, power trims and autopilots, but these systems are far from autonomous driving. The method of the instrument is still essentially the same.
