Brief history of Taoism

I was reading the Straits Times this morning and I saw a report on religious issues in Singapore. According to reports, the number of Singaporeans who have recently turned to Buddhism and Christianity has increased. what does that mean? First of all, this means that more and more people are turning to religion, which is a good thing, because turning attention to faith will provide you with power in a negative period.

However, this is also bad news, which means that some people have given up their original beliefs. Because many young believers believe that faith is superstitious, Taoism seems to be the most affected religion. The misunderstanding here is that Taoists need to pray to many mythological gods and insist on strict rituals and singing. As a person interested in Chinese yuan, art and culture, I am very influenced by this idea and would like to share with you the practical practices of Taoism. [If the reader may want to know, I am a Catholic]

The foundation of Taoism is attributed to two mystics known as Laozi and Zhuangzi [lived in the 6th and 4th centuries BC]. Tao Deqing is believed to have been written by his ancestors, and these works are increasingly attracting the attention of worldly values. . In these works, the inherent weaknesses of human emotions and their human judgments are questioned. In fact, Taoism can be said to be a constraint on the political and social concepts of authoritarian or Confucian writers of that era. In fact, many Confucian schools turned to Taoism during the Song Dynasty, when the country was often engaged in war and politics. Famous poets like Li Bai consider themselves to be Taoists. They live in a secular life with art and calligraphy.

Taoism constantly observes nature to seek answers to solve the problems inherent in the order of the universe, and they often take reasonable steps on these issues. In fact, scientific exploration of Taoist naturalists is likely to help to study problems in physics and chemistry! One school of thought introduced by Taoism is the theory of yin and yang, which attempts to explain the principles of creation and destruction of the universe. It is accomplished through the cyclical interaction of the five material elements of the physical world [water, fire, wood, metal, and earth] with the natural and complementary forces of yin and yang. The principle of Chinese metaphysics is based on this simple theory.

However, the theory of yin and yang was suspended as a political tool, and it was far removed from the path that might lead to a rational and scientific investigation of historical processes. In addition, popular leaders are ready to take advantage of the Chinese superstitious tendencies. The public uses magic power as part of Laozi worship. This is especially popular among mature government plunderers who claim that leaders of authorities or rebel groups are trying to connect themselves with Taoist practices in order to lend a helping hand to the public. Having said that, the established authority of the Chinese empire in the past has always regarded Confucianism as a national belief, so their practices are in stark contrast to the form and order of the disciplined society, and thus disregard the cult.

Here, my conclusion is that before making any choice of life, we should first understand the world and its significance. Sometimes, there is a relative religious group that relies on the mass media to get more followers. Does more fans mean that a particular religion is a better choice? Sometimes, the harder part of life is learning how to let go. For Taoism, this is their way...
