On the family stage, we like to stick to neutral tones so that we can make the house for sale attractive to the widest range of buyers. However, neutrality does not necessarily mean borrowing.
I like to use colors [red, turquoise, orange, green, blue] in pillows, artwork and decorative items, and to use a more neutral background color [beige, grey, white] in furniture, bedding and walls.
Even so, I would like to see the color predicted by the major paint companies is the color of the coming year.
Benjamin Moore's color designer predicts that Wine [2116-20] will be their Envision Color 2011 color. According to Benjamin Moore's website: "For the first time in New York, Paris and Milan fashion shows, this dark brown background and faint violet tones are equally magnificent at home. Wood finishes, leather and other textiles, vintage Wine and its lighter variations will be the perfect color choice for many applications in the coming years. The color of home décor in 2011."
