4 simple Thanksgiving craft ideas for kids

Time is on us. Pull out all those brown and orange sweaters and take a cup of hot cocoa. Relax in the fire and read the books after your favorite author's book. What? You have children? It's ok!

But don't be afraid. I am here to show you some easy-to-learn ideas that any elementary school age child can do. Older people will like it too, if you can make them in the same room as you are long enough.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Let each family member write down something they thank for cutting the feathers. Poke the feathers into the back of the turkey and watch the glorious feathers bloom!

what do you need:

Autumn colored construction paper

scissors

gum

Pipe cleaner

Yarn [dark and light brown] [preferably spherical / not skein]

Wooden craft stick [or popsicle stick]

Feel the material or more construction paper

Optional: Shop to buy googly eyes or other facial features

: If your dark brown yarn has formed a ball, you are there. If not, please continue to wrap a big ball. This will be the body of your turkey. Use a lighter brown to make a small ball that is proportional to the body of the turkey. A popsicle or wooden craft stick will attach the head and body parts of the turkey. To make facial features, either cut off felt or construction paper for eyes, moles and thorns. Items purchased at the store can also be attached to the face. Cut feathers from orange, brown, yellow, green and red construction paper. Let the family write grateful messages on every feather. Stick the pipe cleaner to the back of the feather like a stem. Insert the feather into the back of the turkey and fan out.

Turkish balloon

Turn a regular balloon into a turkey!

what do you need:

Autumn colorful balloons

Autumn colored construction paper

Glue or tape

Magic mark

string

how is itfrom

: Cut as many turkey-shaped heads as possible with brown construction paper as needed. After having a turkey head, each turkey cuts 4-5 leaf-shaped feathers with different color construction paper. Blow up your balloons - don't be too full - they need strong enough little fingers! Draw your turkey face. Don't forget the red jingle! You can also draw a feather pattern at this point if you wish. Paste or paste the turkey head to one end of the balloon and the feather to the other end. Tie your rope to the tip of the balloon and watch the turkey fly!

Comfortable autumn blanket

Although this may not be easy for some people, many children are learning to crochet again. This is a wonderful pastime, and a sense of accomplishment is a great confidence booster. If you are not satisfied with your crochet tips, here are a few tutorial videos. In order to explain to children, I will not use abbreviations.

what do you need:

Soft plush autumn colored yarn [2-5 strand lengths]

Size J crochet hook [children's finger personal favorite]

scissors

pattern:

Loosely link any multiple of 4 and check the required length before stopping. This is the width of your blanket, so plan accordingly. When you reach the desired length, connect one and turn. Wrap the thread around the hook once and weave the crochet into the first loop. Double crochet 3 times. In the fourth cycle, the double crochet enters the same hole twice. This mode continues for 4s to the end of the chain. Rotate, chain 1, and then repeat the same pattern as before [double crochet x 4, then additional double crochet in the 4th cycle]. This will create a slight waveform pattern if done correctly. [It also teaches the children how to calculate by 4!] After completing, tie and cut off the remaining lines.

Turkookies!

Simple turkey-shaped cookies!

what do you need:

Your favorite cookie dough, refrigerated

Extrudable icing in multiple colors

Pretzel or other ' leg shape' salty snack

Baking pot

Optional: board or chopping board

How to do it:

Preheat the oven to the temperature on the cookie dough package. Make sure the cookie dough is flexible for small fingers. Sugar biscuits are the best and least troublesome, but any dough can be. Make the cookie dough into a child's fist-sized ball. Then let the child press the dough into a plate, a chopping board or a baking sheet. Shape the dough around your child's fingers and separate them slightly. Place a pretzel stick or a salty snack of your choice on the bottom of the biscuit to make the leg. Repeat until the pan is full of turkookies! Cook accordingly.

Once the cookies are cool, let the children decorate the fingers with different colors of icing. The thumb is decorated with a brown or black turkey head.

I hope that you and your child will at least try these great holiday ideas! My child and I did all of this. Blankets are the most popular for older children. We actually took out the blankets of last year on weekends, they are still as beautiful as before!

I will come back later to see some Christmas themes!
