Say goodbye to my noble New York premiere, Shanghai Peking Opera

This fall, the performance series called METlivearts will bring talents from Shanghai Peking Opera to MET, and present the Peking Opera masterpiece "Farewell to my nephew" in the museum's Ming Dynasty style scholar garden Astor Court.

The "My Scorpion Faville" starring Peking Opera stars Shang Changrong and Shi Yihong tells the epic story of Xi Chuwang and his wife Xiang Yu in the 1950s.

Because Xiang was surrounded by the enemy and was on the verge of failure, Ms. Yu killed herself with a sword and coexisted with her love.

Although the Astor Court can only accommodate 70-80 seats, the distance between the audience and the performers is shortened, creating a unique environment and viewing experience.
