Native speakers of Chinese
For families without a native language, one way is to hire a nanny who speaks Chinese. The New York Times has an article announcing an increase in Chinese au pairs. You can also schedule game dates with other kids who are learning Chinese, or find a babysitter who can speak Chinese. Local universities usually have Chinese spouses looking for extra income on master's and doctoral degrees. Another option is to find a local babysitter with some people around. If you are in a public service, please remember Zoe Baird's request for legal employment of a babysitter. To be honest, there are many people in the United States who come from China. They don't have a thesis working as a babysitter, so be careful. The nanny is also taking care of your children, so it is very important to choose the right person, especially if they live with you. Our friends have experienced multiple nannies, this is not a good experience.
Chinese private school
Traditionally, non-public Chinese schools in the United States began teaching children to sit and copy roles as they were old. Most schools are still using the traditional teaching method of rote learning that is still in use in Taiwan and China. In most cases in the United States, it does not work due to cultural courses. In the United States, children have great independence and use boring teaching methods. These methods do not appeal to children, so they want to go to school without a lot of parental motivation and eventually fail. Children are forced to go to school and often consider them as nannies rather than learning Chinese.
Another way is to find a school that uses more Montessori methods or schools that use many conversations in ESL. My daughter's public school language teacher spoke of the use of this method in the classroom, rather than the traditional grammatical focus of learning many foreign languages surprised me. When I was young, I would recommend using a lot of programs taught by singing and other fun activities.
Chinese learning products
Learning Chinese CD
There are two different types of CDs. One is a 100% Chinese children's song in Chinese or a Chinese-only story. Some products include a Chinese lyric, while others do not. Other products are designed to teach Chinese, with a booklet in English, Pinyin and Chinese lyrics. Chinese teaching products come from the United States [mostly] and from Singapore. Chinese teaching products are bilingual, so the songs are sung in Chinese and English. I like CDs because they give parents the chance to be part of the process of teaching Chinese CDs and singing Chinese and English happy birthdays [this series focuses on popular songs] in English and Chinese]. Another series is dedicated to writing songs for Chinese teaching. The "Teach me Chinese series" provides a guide for teachers. Sing&Learn Chinese CDs and books include songs without text [such as Karoke]. Let's Sing Chinese is a collection of three products from Singapore, both familiar songs and new songs. 3 is the most I have seen in any series of Cd in Chinese teaching.
Learning Chinese videos
Videos like Mei Mei use more hands-on methods to teach basic vocabulary, and she currently has five videos in her series. From the first teacher count and the body part of the song to the way the kids like it, and later those advancements, such as her game with Mei Mei and learning Chinese, one of the real Chinese kindergartens was visited. The beauty of this video is that it gives your child a chance to compare their experiences and see the differences between their school and the video. From lunch to gymnasium to nap. Learning Chinese books
For those who are just beginning to learn Chinese, this book is great, I won't bite. It is a touch and feel book with pinyin, Chinese characters and English. The challenge of using books is often that you need to know how to read Chinese in order to learn from them. An interesting book that allows children to touch Chinese characters. The dragon is a book for learning Chinese characters by Peggy Goldstein's dragon.
