Chase down some fun this June during our annual Children's Season! From 28 May to 26 June 2016, bring your young ones and the young-at-heart on a trip to discover heritage, art, culture, and science, as well as other everyday aspects of life in Singapore. With dedicated children's exhibitions and interactive activities to delight and enlighten, including Masak Masak at the National Museum of Singapore, Once Upon a Time in Asia: The Missing Mouse at the Asian Civilisations Museum, and Shaking It With Shakespeare at the Singapore Philatelic Museum, we promise a fun time for all! • Masak Masak 2016
Venue: National Museum of Singapore

Children's Season at the National Museum of Singapore returns with another fun-filled festival to celebrate the joys of being a child! Join us at Masak Masak 2016 as we embark on another journey with Baby Block to make a new friend. Immerse yourselves in a colourful world of interactive installations, activities and workshops that are specially curated for the whole family. The activities are suitable for children aged three to seven, so treat your young ones to a fun day out at the museum!

• Once Upon A Time in Asia: The Missing Mouse
Venue: Asian Civilisations Museum
Date: 28 May to 11 September 2016
Time: 10am to 5pm
Free admission
Recommended for children ages 7 to 12, and for the young at heart

Are you ready to search for the missing mouse? Experience a story about friendship and adventure in the museum as you join Ganesha on his hunt for his best friend, Mr Mouse! Explore meandering mazes, paths and passages, to track him down. Create your own adventure in the museum. This exhibition is based on the Asian Civilisations Museums' first children's book, The Missing Mouse. Through hands-on activities, workshops, programmes, and tours, you can learn more about animals – both real and mythical – in Asian art. Have an enjoyable with the whole family at this exhibition for both children and the young at heart.

Come join us for the Balloon Bonanza at the Heritage Institutions this Children's Season with your little ones! Explore creative and unique balloon sculptures created by well-known local balloon artist, Lily Tan, inspired by artefacts in the three Heritage Institutions.

• Straits Family Sunday: Manek Manek (Bead Bead)
Venue: Peranakan Museum
Date: 12 June 2016
Time: 1pm to 5pm

Have fun this June with beads! Learn how to bead your own badge, enjoy a dramatization of a popular children's book, and be mesmerized by a demonstration of Peranakan beading by expert Bebe Seet. Learn more about beadwork and embroidery with our specially crafted tours for kids.

• Heritage Hunt @ SYSNMH
Venue: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
Date: 18 & 19 June 2016
Time: 10am to 5pm

Go on a Heritage Hunt and search for the hidden treasure by collecting clues at various activity stations. During the hunt, participants will get to learn fun facts about Chinese heritage and history. This programme will also enable participants to learn more about Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall's special exhibition on the history and development of Chinese newspapers in Singapore titled Early Chinese Newspapers in Singapore (1881–1942).

• Cadets, Fall In! 2016
Venue: Army Museum of Singapore

ATTENTION! Listen up, boys and girls! In this installation of 'Cadets Fall In' programme, learn about Army life through an outdoor 'Survival!' field camp, a laser tag game mission, and our Special Exhibition. Also, bring out the 'garang' soldier in you, by donning one of our child-sized uniforms, complete with accessories. Enjoy a fun-filled experience for children of all ages.

• Learn & Play @ CHC
Venue: Chinese Heritage Centre
Date: 11 June 2016
Time: 9am to 4pm

Enjoy a day of fun-filled activities such as storytelling by Robot Edgar and artiste Chen Zhao Jin, harmonica performance by veteran Soon John Kwang, and Chinese painting workshop by artist Li Chenxia at Learn & Play @ CHC. Join Mandarin and English guided tours of Chinese More or Less Exhibition and Nantah Pictorial Exhibition. A door gift will be given to every child.

• Children's Season @ Gan Heritage Centre
Venue: Gan Heritage Centre
Dates: Saturdays, 11 and 18 June
Time: 11am to 5pm

Join Gan Heritage Centre this Children's Season and take part in some educational fun! Enjoy themed exhibition board games and learn about Singapore's landmarks, Confucius values, differences between Chinese and English kinship terms, and the evolution and structures of Chinese words. Children can also participate in a calligraphy workshop, where they will learn how to use a Chinese brush to write characters in the Yan style, or delight in a colouring activity, perfect for budding doodlers.

• Power Up with Fruits and Vegetables!
Venue: HealthZone
Dates: 30 May to 3 June 2016
Time: 9am to 1pm

Explore the secrets to good health at HealthZone – Singapore's unique healthy lifestyle exhibition centre. Featuring exciting game stations as well as an art-and-craft workshop, Power up with fruit and vegetables! is an interactive 2-hour programme where participants will embark on a fun-filled adventure while gaining insights into healthy eating.

• Land Transport Festival: Walk, Cycle, Ride (WCR)
Venue: Land Transport Gallery

Join our annual Land Transport Festival this Children's Season for a day of fun, food and facts on active mobility. Be a part of our Walk Cycle Ride Movement through a trail, rides and exhibits. You can also check out and purchase unique merchandise at Knackstop at our popup store.

*Visitors may wish to bring their personal mobile devices to participate in the optional trail available.

• Build a Kaleidoscope
Venue: Mint Museum of Toys
Dates: 29 May & 5, 12, 19 June 2016

See the world in different colours! Learn how to build your own Kaleidoscope using recycled and everyday materials. Fun and interactive, discover toy-making and imaginative during this open session. Participating kaleidoscope-builders will also get to explore the colourful world of vintage toys in the museum. Children below 7 years old can participate with parent's accompaniment.

Visitors can drop in anytime between 12pm to 3pm for the session. Facilitation will be available.

• Workshops: Introduction to Chinese Ink Painting
Venue: NUS Museum, ST Lee Atrium
Date: 4 & 11 June and 18 & 25 June (repeat sessions)
Time: 11am to 1.30pm

7 to 12 years old

This June, learn the traditional Chinese art form of ink painting in our Introduction to Chinese Ink Painting workshops. Parents and children will be introduced to the history of Chinese ink painting before learning basic brush techniques and painting objects such as bamboo, birds and flowers. In the second session, you will learn how to capture the spirit of a subject with contemporary brush techniques. A greater emphasis will be placed on brush control and composition of your ink painting. At the end of the workshop, each team will bring home their own unique work!

• I want to be a policeman!
Venue: Police Heritage Centre, Police HQ

Treat your child to a memorable time at the Police Heritage Centre! Young visitors will get to wear kid-sized police uniforms, and take part in photo-taking sessions with real police officers as well as a retro-fitted police radio car, which was deployed to the scene of crime in the 1970s! For a complete learning experience, kids will receive interesting activity game booklets, and stand a chance to win attractive prizes by participating in a drawing competition. Don't forget to share your photos and tag them with #IWantToBeAPoliceman and #ILOVEPHC.
